This was a very short story, kind of reminded me of a condensed book. Maybe 30 pages. It was a day in the life of a soldier sent to Venice, Italy with his fiancee, Margo, because he had "hysterical" blindness. There seems no medical reason for his loss of sight, there were descriptions of memories, and you could picture what Nick was "seeing" based on the descriptions given.
The story was a sad and dark day in the lives of Nick and his girlfriend. Darkness from both his eyesight and the darkness he felt from being in the war and ordering the raid on a village which caused the lose of life for so many, but the one image he couldn't forget was one of a two year old girl. Since this is the first book I've read by Mr. Zandri, and I've heard good things about his writing, I will give another of his books a try.
This was an OK read, and I will be giving it 2**
I read this book for my...
